Why even bother inspecting a new house? Although your builder may have been around for a long time and may have a fine reputation, if this is the first time he hired a certain plumber or carpenter, mistakes will likely be made, especially if they're new to the building trades.  I'll find those mistakes for you so you can have the builder fix them. Those over-worked local code inspectors do maybe thirty houses a day, and they just don't have the time to find everything I'll find.  As for me?  I daily inspect one or two max.  I'll be looking at the house for hours, not minutes.

Put my construction experience to work for you. I cut my new-house teeth back about thirty years ago with my dad and grandpa.  They were partners as builders in the Palos Heights area, and I got a good home schooling on the right way to build.  I know new construction, and my knowledge will ensure a smooth move into your new home. I also ran the Customer Service department for Landmark Homes in Barrington/Long Grove for about six years. I took thousands of phone complaints about problems with new houses.  Part of my job was to oversee the fixes. I learned where the trades tend to cut corners and/or make mistakes. If someone made mistakes or cut corners with the house you've asked me to inspect, I'll alert you to the problem areas. In addition, I was a Construction Superintendent for Gallagher & Henry in Downers Grove. All this adds up to you getting an inspector who will find defects that other less experienced inspectors might miss, and this could save you quite a bit of money, especially when the defects are discovered after your short one-year builder warranty is up.
